About the Course

Learn the beautiful art of opening to your life through the practice of mindfulness meditation. Each week we’ll dive into different aspects of mindfulness and how it applies to our lives. Mindfulness is the practice of bringing a non-judgmental awareness to whatever is unfolding in the present moment. It’s a simple yet dynamic practice that can have a profound impact on our lives, helping us navigate stress and deepen the way we connect with our experiences. Throughout our time together we will unravel the teachings of mindfulness sequentially, each week building on the preceding one. Each class session will include a teaching, a meditation practice period, and space for questions and answers. For six weeks you will have the opportunity to connect regularly with the same participants through a supportive and intimate group setting. WEEK 1: What is Mindfulness WEEK 2: Mindfulness of the Body WEEK 3: Mindfulness of Emotions WEEK 4: Working with Thoughts and Beliefs WEEK 5: The Wise Heart: Compassion Practices WEEK 6: Bringing Your Practice into the World WHO'S THIS CLASS FOR? This class is designed for adults who are interested in exploring what mindfulness is and how to practice it. It’s an introduction to a deeper exploration of how to cultivate a more intimate and intentional relationship with our experiences and life itself. This class is also supportive for those looking to navigate stress or anxiety, or for those who want to become less reactive and more open to their life. Everyone is welcome, regardless of age, race, gender, sexuality, ability, and familiarity or experience with mindfulness and meditation. WHO'S YOUR TEACHER? Samantha is passionate about the teachings of mindfulness because of the impact they’ve had on her life. She has taught mindfulness meditation in groups in the past and currently shares pre-recorded guided meditations online. She's currently enrolled in a two-year professional training program for teaching mindfulness and compassion-based practices with teachers Jack Kornfield and Tara Brach. As she enters the second year, she's asked to offer this course as part of her practicum requirement.
