I have spent many seasons of my life in solitude within quiet, quaint places surrounded by nature. These experiences have deeply supported my journey in turning toward something deeper and more meaningful beneath the noise, materialism, and superficial layers of modern Western society. In the same vein as Virgina Woolf’s quote that “A woman must have money and a room of her own if she is to write fiction,” I believe a woman can most clearly access her soulful nature and inner wisdom through nature, solitude, and stillness. Recently in my life I have ventured away from small cabins and solitude in order to expand into other areas of my life, but the call of the cabin still remains. Now, the cabin has become more internalized–a place where I can retreat to refill my cup, access the depth beneath the surface, and connect to the soul. The word “crimson” is inspired by one of my favorite places on Casper Mountain in my hometown of Casper, Wyoming. This land, called Crimson Dawn, was once owned by a woman named Elizabeth "Neal" Forsling, a writer and artist. She moved to a remote cabin on the mountain in 1929 with her two daughters. Inspired by the red sandstone of the area, she created tales of friendly witches and forest spirits, initiating a Midsummer's Eve celebration that continues to this day. Now, in this stage of my journey, I feel pulled to share the essence of the cabin–and invite women to their own inner cabin–through the magic of soulful words, woodsy scents, invitations for inner reflection, community circles, and other thoughtful gifts.
